Diseases transmitted from animals to humans

Zoonosis

Fungal infections or dermatophytosis, that lead to hair loss and small circular
spotted and scaling lesions. If we live close to infected animals we will probably

catch the disease and develop circular reddish spots on our skin as well.

External Parasites:

Scabies (sarcoptic mange) is a very itchy disease that causes
hairs thinning out and small crusts, we will develop small and itchy spots on the skin in case of contact
with animals and tools used for grooming

There is a different type of mange called demodicosis, which is caused by different mites that are not transmitted to other dogs or cats nor to humans

Cheyletiella dermatitis or "walking dandruff" that causes scaling and itch, we can develop a transient pruritic rash due to a skin allergic reaction.

Toxoplasmosis is not transmitted by dogs! Infected or carrier cats can spread the disease, raw meat and vegetables that were not washed properly can be the primary source of infection

Leptospirosis is seldom afflicting dogs that would spend most of their time at home,

but hunting dogs and dogs that are often going for a walk in the countryside

are more likely to become infected.

Hydatid worm (tapeworms)
This is an eradicated disease in the UK, most recent cases having been imported from abroad.  To prevent its re-emergence treatment against ticks and tapeworms is requested for UK re entry.

Oral warts, is it contagious?
Mouth warts or oral papillomatosis is an infective disease caused by viruses that can be surely transmitted to other dogs but not to other pets or humans
